The scarcity and exorbitant cost of high-tech anticancer and other specialized products are the emerging problems in treating the ailing humanities of Bangladesh . As Bangladesh is exempted from the WTO regulations until 2016, there will be an ample opportunity for our country to manufacture high-tech patented anticancer and other specialized products at highly competitive prices to face the post WTO challenges.
Beacon Pharmaceuticals Limited has been established with the vision to enable Bangladesh to cope with the post WTO challenges. This unique and world standard manufacturing facility will offer several opportunities some of which are as follows:
-
The facility will have the scope to manufacture full range of modern anticancer products as well as other specialized drugs to meet domestic demand. This will reduce the import dependence resulting in savings of huge foreign currency.
-
Offering contract/toll-manufacturing opportunity to the multinational companies particularly the companies, which have present operation in Bangladesh and importing and marketing anticancer and other specialized products at exorbitantly high price.
-
Export opportunity for anticancer and other specialized products in the LDCs as well as developing countries that can ensure massive export growth of pharmaceuticals from our country.
-
MNCs who do not have Plant and/or direct operation in Bangladesh may opt for using Beacon facility for manufacturing their products at lower cost and buy-back the same for marketing in overseas market.
-
WHO, UNICEF and other International organizations can use this facility for toll manufacturing or they can procure such medicines from Bangladesh at a very economic price.
The construction of manufacturing facility is going in full suing. Oncology and general formulation plant is almost complete. It is expected to be finished within 30 September, 2005 .
