Beacon Pharma organizes “Career Plan for

Pharmacy graduates” at the Dhaka University

Beacon Pharmaceuticals Ltd. organized a program on “Career Plan for Pharmacy Graduates” at the Dhaka University Pharmacy Lecture Theatre on July 30, 2005. Presided over by the Dean of Pharmacy Faculty Professor Md. Abdur Rashid the program was also attended by the Vice Chancellor Professor S M A Faiz as the chief guest and department heads Professor Nurur Nahar Rahman, Professor Muniruddin Ahmed, professor A B M Faruk as special guests. Beacon pharma Managing Director Mr. Ebadul Karim delivered the welcome address while Marketing Director Mr. Mohammad Akhter Hussain presented the keynote paper. In his welcome address Mr. Ebadul thanked the Dhaka university authorities for their assistance in organizing such an important program. He mentioned that Beacon pharma has been constructing a world class pharmaceuticals plant in order to be the first and the only hi-tech lyophilized anticancer drug manufacturing facility in Bangladesh. Beacon pharma has a vision to be a global company by its world class products and services, Mr. Ebadul added. He appreciated the role of Dhaka University in developing and supplying qualified pharmacists and welcomed pharmacy graduates to be members of Beacon Pharma family.

 

In his keynote paper on “Career Plan for Pharmacy Graduates” Mr. Akhter referred that in the USA, Pharmacists are playing their due role in all areas including public and private sectors, civil and military services etc. But in Bangladesh Pharmacists’ job are limited only in the industry. He highlighted the technical aspects and mentioned that Beacon Pharma is going to be one of the finest facilities in the world. Beacon pharma has an excellent professional work environment. So, there are better career progression opportunities for Pharmacy Graduates at Beacon. The Vice-Chancellor of Dhaka University and the chief guest of the program Professor S M A Faiz appreciated and thanked Beacon Pharma entrepreneurs for such an innovative idea to manufacture firstever anticancer drugs in Bangladesh. He hoped people suffering with deadly cancer diseases will now get world class treatment at affordable cost. Professor Rashid thanked Beacon Pharma authority for organizing such an event in the university campus. He hoped this program will act as a bridge between the academic institutions and the industry in R & D, technology transfer and job placement of students. Other speakers also appreciated the move and expressed their view that with its outstanding product quality Beacon Pharma will be able to export products to global market place. The Senior Vice President of Beacon pharma Mr. Hishabuddin Ahmed thanked the audiences for their active participation in the program.
